Will you consider helping Stirchley lead the way in becoming Birmingham’s very first Dementia Friendly Community?
Almost all of us know someone affected by dementia. But too many people living with dementia report feeling cut off from their community, losing their friendships and facing dementia alone.
Having dementia shouldn’t mean an isolated life. And it doesn’t have to. Simple actions from us all can create supportive communities - where people living with the condition can continue to socialise with others, hop on the bus, go to their favourite shops or take part in local activities for as long as possible.
We all have a role to play in making the UK a dementia-friendly place to live and that’s what Dementia Action Week is all about.
One of the first steps to take with becoming a Dementia Friendly Community is raising awareness. Dementia Action Week is just around the corner, are you able to incorporate any of the following ideas into your business?

Santa Claus Came to Stirchley!
Christmas Wonderland Party 2017
Another fantastic event brought to you by Stirchley, the Way Forward (not for profit) at Stirchley Baths.
Greeted at the door by a fantastically balloon made Santa and an opening of some very popular Christmas carols. The event was a great family fun day out, right from the beginning, breathing festivities into the air of Stirchley.
There was plenty to see and do. With lots of Christmas activities to keep the kids entertained. And not just for the kids either, adults had a great selection of stalls to pick up some great Christmas gifts and stocking fillers.
Free tea, coffee and squash, cakes and biscuits were on hand to keep people well fed and refreshed. Not to forget the mince pies of course!
DJ Jay from DNA was great at keeping the kids entertained with his disco and party games.
Also well done to all of the winners of the raffle and guess the weight of the cake and marbles in a jar competitions.

Stirchley, the Way Forward (not for Profit) would like to thank everyone who helped to make Stirchley Christmas Party 2018 such a success. It is only through the combined efforts of the community of business owners, traders, residents, other Stirchley Groups we have enhanced the reputation of Stirchley as a very unique place.
Special thanks to Santa for stopping by with the help of Stichley Fire Brigade. Lots of children must be on the good list as they had a gift from Santa.
Stirchley Youth Theatre gave us all a fantastic performance. A real treat!
DJ Jazzy Jeff kept all the kids entertained with his music and party games and gave the venue a real buzz.
A fantastic time was had by all and it really gave the festive season a kick start!
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all the community a very Merry Christmas and and a Happy New Year!
